Pain Management
One aspect of recovery from surgery such as a Hip operation is pain.
Over the last few months I have been in pain, both before and after surgery, some of it is to be expected and other can be totally unexpected and caused by accidental impacts.
Previously I would have asked for Morphine, but after a while I got concerned about addiction, so I stopped requesting it.
As I write this is am in pain, right now. It is 2340 at night and I am writing a LinkedIn article while my right leg is in pain.
Why am I doing this?
Well two reasons, one - its my thoughts and experiences, and two it portrays an aspect on how I’ve learnt to get over pain without Morphine, one of which you could apply to the situation of encountering an impossible task or challenge.
Now, when I’m in pain, I stop… and I find something challenging to do, something to distract me and take my mind off the pain.
Now apply this to when you hit a wall with a challenging task. Would you keep hitting that (pain) wall like I used to here in hospital or would you stop, step back, regroup, take a break, rethink?
Now Im both scenarios, well the pain first, I find the pain goes away without the need for drugs.
Maybe when faced with that impossible challenges, a solution will appear when you take a break
However don’t forget, if the challenge or pain Is too hard to overcome, the antidote is always available in some form but taking it too soon may cause side effects
As I finish this article, my pain has faded. It’s done it’s job for me.
